I received this as a sample in my monthly Olfactif box. If you are not familiar with Olfactif- it is a monthly subscription service where you are sent 2 unisex, or men’s fragrances (depending on the box you choose) monthly. The scents are picked based on a theme. You are given a monthly credit towards the purchase of a full-size bottle, and there are often codes to share with friends. If you are interested in something like this please check out this link!

Have you ever had fragrance Deja Vu? Anyone who gets into the fragrance game is bound to run into a situation like this at one point or another. Unfortunately, that very story happened with this beauty right here.

Notes: rose, citrus, strawberries, jasmine, orange blossom, amber, musk, vanilla.

I went crazy (in a good way) over the opening: citrus/fruity/sweet/sassy/sexy. I began to envision a classy woman, trendy and sophisticated, sassy/sexy and total upper class. However, as it started to dry down this became very familiar to me. This reminded me of something I used to own and wear on a daily basis…. then it hit me Miss Dior Cherie by Christian Dior (now lovingly known as “Miss Dior”**but note Miss Dior is missing the toasty-caramel charm that Miss Dior Cherie had. Unfortunately, some of the depth has been lost with this change)! Roses elixir has more depth than Miss Dior, but not the caramel feel. This was not intended to be a total duplicate so I will not harp on that. However, if you ran out of (and are desperately looking for a replacement or flanker), or don’t already own Miss Dior Cherie, then this is a great option for you!

I am sorry fellas, this one is ultra feminine. I hate to put gender on fragrance but I can see a lot of men struggling with this one.

It opens with a sweet bubbly mix of citrus, rose, strawberry and jasmine.

Longevity: As to be expected with fragrances from this house, this one performs exceptionally well. I get over 10 hours of wear!

Projection/Sillage: This one definitely gets noticed- On my skin, this projects 2-3 feet. I received 4 compliments on it one day. If you like to leave a sweet trial, this one will please you.

Price/Value: Depends on where you get this, below are best prices I have found *FYI-1 oz Miss Dior (good luck finding Miss Dior Cherie ) retails on Dior’s website for $74.00; 3.4 oz $124.00. I have used Notino (formerly known as beautyspin) for many fragrance purchases and I can tell you the customer service/shipping/quality of product is excellent. They sell authentic fragrances!

Overall: This is an awesome flanker (dupe for my fragrance virgins) for a former popular designer fragrance. I am not purchasing a full bottle as I have spent many months/years with Miss Dior Cherie and at this moment I would like to explore other fragrances. The new “Miss Dior” is missing some of the depth that once was in the “Cherie” version. If you are looking for something very similar to Miss Dior Cherie, I highly recommend picking up a bottle of Montale Rose Elixir!

Without comparison to said Dior fragrance, this is a fun/youthful/playful fragrance. It is a delight to wear and can be worn day, or night. It performs well in cold weather. But would make a great choice for warmer months too!
